Prof.Yunus Visit to Tohoku, March 10th to 13th 2012

Announcement
One year has passed since the unprecedented disaster caused by the great earthquake that hit the eastern Japan, especially 4 prefectures in Tohoku. On the occasion of the visit of Professor Muhammad Yunus, Founder of Grameen Bank, Nobel Peace Laureate, to devastated areas,Tohoku University in the city of Sendai, the city of Kesennuma and Aomori Chuo Gakuin University will host 3 different events with keynote lecture by Professor Yunus on March 11th and 12th with the title of “Social business as a means of reconstruction and recovery of the devastated areas and regional revitalization”.

October 1st, 2011 Yunus & Shiiki Social Business Research Center Was Launched

Announcement
On October 1st 2011, Kyushu University established the new “Yunus & Shiiki Social Business Research Center” (SBRC). This center, inspired by the ideas of Prof. Muhammad YUNUS (founder of the Grameen Bank, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize (2006), and Fukuoka Asia Culture Grand Prize (2001), Distinguished Professor of Kyushu University)has been established thanks to the generous donation for the first time in the world of M. Masakazu Shiiki, with the objective of work on Social Business.

Social Business Forum Asia in Fukuoka 2011 (Announcement)

Global Social Business Summit

The Grameen Creative Lab@Kyushu University, in collaboration with the city of Fukuoka, will welcome Dr Muhammad Yunus, winner of the Peace Nobel Prize (2006) and founder of the Grameen Bank for its first Social Business Forum Asia in Fukuoka from July 21st , 2011 (Thu) to July 23rd (Sat). This year theme will be “self-reliable recovery projects to the survivors of the Great Tohoku Earthquake through the idea and the practice of Social Business ".

In this Social Business Forum Asia in Fukuoka 2011, through the combination of the participants, Prof. Yunus and the global Social Business actors' ideas, we would like to examine together mid/long-term measures for the survivors and support them to return to a normal and independent life with their dignity.

December 24, 2010 Grameen Technology Lab Was Launched

October 13, 2010: Grameen, Yukiguni Maitake and Kyushu Univ singed joint venture agreement
Grameen Technology Lab (GTL) is established at Hakozaki Campus, Kyushu University on December 24th, 2010 and Prof. Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank, Kyushu University distinguished university professor, is assumed a Trustee of GTL.

On November 18, 2010, Kyushu University joined in official launch of United Nation Academic Impact (UNAI) as a participant university at UN headquarters, New York.
